AlgorithmicKitchen codename Crunchy Advertising Tempeh Yakitori

zondag 10 december 2017 , 14:05 - 22:05 uur

The upcoming edition will be dedicated to play with classification algorithms used for advertisement. We will create our own Facebook/Twitter/AdWords campaigns (as well as exploring some other providers) to reflect upon how their categories of "Target Audiences" are created. Afterwards, we will have a brief discussion about the transparency/opaqueness of algorithms, and how the upcoming General Data Protection Regulation may get things even a bit more complicated for everyone. We expect you all next Sunday , 10th December under the codename ''Crunchy Advertising Tempeh Yakitori''

Bringing a computer is not absolutely necessary, but if you want to create your own Ad Campaign, it would come in handy!

AlgoKitchen is an interest group in the technopolitics of big data. Our emphasis is in creating humane connections and sharing personal stories about how we are affected by big data and what self-defense strategies we develop. Everybody is welcome, you don't need to be an expert.

We cover topics such as privacy, network infrastructure, surveillance capitalism, freedom of information, personalization, precarity, data activism and digital research methods and we do it from a decidedly practical perspective.
